CLE Cavaliers Playoff History (Tue, 07 Sep 2010)
The Cleveland Cavaliers playoff history, for the most part, has been one of getting eliminated in the first round, which has happened 10 out of 16 times in Cavs history. Founded as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons, playing in the National Basketball League (NBL). They got their name from Fred Zollner who manufactured car, truck, and locomotive pistons. The NBA Finals MVP award was first given out in 1969 when Jerry West of the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA championship. There were different NBA Finals MVP award winners during the 1960s and 70s other than Willis Reed who won the award for both of the New York Knicks' NBA titles in 1970 and 1973. Award winners include two of the greatest big men in NBA history - Lew Alcindor (later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) and Wilt Chamberlain.

The Miami Heat playoff history is relatively short compared to other teams in the league, but it's bore the fruit of an NBA championship already, which was led by Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal. However, the elation of a championship was short-lived as the Heat were swept in the first round by the Chicago Bulls the following season. However, there is sure to be many more playoff appearances for the franchise.

The 1960s in the NBA was all about the Boston Celtics. Not only did they win eight straight titles starting in the late 1950s into this decade, but they won eight titles out of the ten possible ones in this decade. The other NBA champions in this decade also came from the northeast section of the country with the Philadelphia 76ers winning the 1966-67 season's title and the New York Knicks winning it for the 1969-70 season. It's safe to say that the 1960s were all about the Eastern Conference.

Rookie Challenge Game History (Tue, 07 Sep 2010)
What better way to highlight the young talent of the NBA than to have a game between rookies and players in their second season in the League? And to have it part of NBA All-Star weekend is only appropriate since many players who have played in the Rookie Challenge game went on to become All-Stars themselves. NBA Finals Results - 1980s (Tue, 07 Sep 2010)
Between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics (yes, those two teams again), they won seven NBA titles during the 1980s led by two NBA superstars credited for bringing the popularity of the NBA back up. Magic Johnson led the "Showtime" Lakers win four championships. The Celtics were led by Larry Bird winning three titles. At the end of the decade, the Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys" won back-to-back titles with defense as the key, a departure from the Lakers and Celtics big offenses.

The Minnesota Timberwolves playoff history consists of one block of eight straight seasons making the NBA playoffs, and except for that eighth year, exiting after the first round. Flip Saunders was the coach all eight years and Kevin Garnett was the player. However, since KG's departure and winning an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, the T-Wolves haven't really been the same.

The Milwaukee Bucks playoff history got started off with a bang as the Bucks won the NBA championship in only the franchise's second playoff appearance and its third NBA season thanks in part to NBA Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson. After a strong showing during the 1980s in which the Bucks made the postseason every season, there was a drought during the 1990s with the Bucks hoping to get back to the way they started.

The Wizards started as the Chicago Packers in 1961, but changed their team name to the Zephyrs in 1962. At the end of the season, they moved to Baltimore, Maryland and became the Baltimore Bullets. In 1973, the team moved to Landover and became the Capital Bullets, then the Washington Bullets the next season. Due to the violent association, the mascot name was changed to the Wizards in 1995.
